Yaz A Highly Controversial Birth Control Pill
Click Here To Find Out More About:
Yaz is a type of birth control formula that contains drospirenone, which is essentially a synthetic progestin present in the birth control. Yaz is different from the various other forms of synthetic progestins as it is actually closer in makeup to natural progesterone. Because of this close pharmacological makeup, it may give users less breast tenderness and water retention while reducing the instance of acne. Yaz has also been used for the treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder and moderate acne.
Yaz is part of newer formulations of oral contraceptives. It contains 20 mcg of ethinylestradiol and 3 mg of drospirenone per tablet and its used for contraceptive purposes. This contraceptive comes in a 24/4 style dosage, which means that the initial 24 pills will be active and contain the drospirenone and the last four pills will actually be placebo pills. Yaz works to change the uterine and cervical lining. This change prevents the sperm from reaching the uterus, as well as prevents fertilized eggs from attaching to the lining of the uterus. When Yaz is used according to the instructions, it is 99% effective in the prevention of pregnancy. However, that prevention does come at some risk.

Yaz does have the potential for adverse reactions. Many of them are quite serious. These side effects can include the following:

Arrhythmias have been developed by women taking Yaz. These are characterized by chest pain, fatigue, sweating, feeling anxious, and dizziness, fluttering in the chest or neck, palpitations, lightheadedness, shortness of breath and loss of consciousness. Severity of the arrhythmia will ultimately determine the type of treatment necessary, as well as other factors including age and medical history. Some serious arrhythmias require pacemakers or other implant devices, medications and surgeries, while many can be treated by reducing caffeine, nicotine and alcohol and introducing stress reduction and relaxation techniques into the lifestyle. There is no known cure for an arrhythmia.
More recently, several class action lawsuits have been filed against Bayer, who is the manufacturer of Yaz. These lawsuits came after Bayer failed to warn users appropriately of the dangerous side effects of Yaz. These side effects of Yaz can be fatal and the FDA did bring the hammer down on Bayer, demanding that the Yaz marketing campaigns be changed to A.) stop exaggerating the contraceptive’s abilities and B.) include proper notification of the public to the dangerous adverse effects of this contraceptive medication.
Any woman who develops any of the severe symptoms mentioned above should discontinue Yaz and seek medical attention immediately to ensure that their health and well being are secure.
